IMC Information Solutions Inc. (IMCIS) is currently seeking multiple
Historical Researchers to work on a government contract pertaining to claims and/or
litigation relating to Indian residential schools in Alberta, British Columbia, and
Yukon.
Requirements are as follows:
- Minimum of a Bachelor degree in the social sciences, preferably relating to
archaeology, anthropology, history, political science, criminology, or law.
- Knowledge of First Nation history and issues.
- At least one year of professional work experience conducting historial
research using primary and secondary records (archival, government), preferably
relating to First Nation-European relations in British Columbia.
- Knowledge of the civil litigation process.
- Demonstrated professional experience synthesizing primary and
secondary historical records into reports, summaries, memos, and official
correspondence.
- Demonstrated professional experience using databases to locate
primary or secondary sources pertaining to specific research topics or
objectives.
- At least six months of experience performing data entry onto computerized
databases.
- Professional work experience coding or flagging database entries.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Please note that IMCIS engages researchers on a contract basis.
Researchers therefore should currently maintain an office environment suitable for
performing assignments offsite, as well as be available to work onsite if required.
Note, too, that these positions require candidates to qualify for a security
clearance involving a criminal record check.
